Freelance Proposal Writer – Remote

We’re seeking a Proposal Writer to join our team on a freelance, remote basis. This is a flexible, project-based role perfect for someone who thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments and wants to make a real impact through persuasive writing.

You’ll work across the full proposal lifecycle—from analyzing requirements and shaping strategy through to writing, editing, and finalizing content. Your work will focus on crafting compelling, compliant proposals that meet client needs and evaluation criteria.

Workload will fluctuate based on active projects, and you’ll often be working to tight deadlines with quick turnarounds. If you’re energized by variety and thrive under pressure, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

• Analyze project briefs and requirements to develop content strategy
• Participate in kickoff and planning sessions to align approach and goals
• Collaborate with project managers and subject matter experts to gather information and clarify concepts
• Write original, tailored content for technical, management, staffing, and case study sections
• Maintain consistent voice, tone, and style across content from multiple writers
• Customize templates to align with specific requirements and structure
• Revise content based on feedback, ensuring clarity and compliance
• Edit and proofread for accuracy, consistency, and flow
• Manage version control and deliver work on schedule
• Support submission logistics when needed

Skills/Background Needed

Essential:
• 7+ years of hands-on experience writing proposals
• Proven ability to produce clear, compelling, compliant content under pressure
• Strong writing, editing, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise narratives
• Comfortable working collaboratively in a virtual team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience with team collaboration tools

Nice to have:
• Knowledge of structured proposal processes and review cycles
• Experience in proposal coordination or project management
• Background in government procurement or related sectors
