Grant Writer – Entry Level

About the role:

We’re looking for a Grant Writer to research, identify, and apply for grant opportunities that support organizational initiatives. You’ll work independently on developing proposals, managing timelines, and coordinating with internal teams and external funding agencies. This role offers the chance to develop strong writing and research skills in a structured environment with guidance and support.

What you’ll be doing:

• Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities

• Review and interpret grant guidelines, regulations, and funding opportunity notices

• Conduct research and analysis to generate reports, budgets, and cost estimates

• Prepare grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation in coordination with internal departments

• Develop timelines to ensure grant applications are submitted on schedule

• Submit completed grant proposals to funding agencies

• Coordinate and participate in meetings to support grant and departmental initiatives

• Maintain grant tracking and management records

• Prepare reports, memos, letters, and written correspondence

• Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, partner organizations, and funding agencies

• Collaborate with project teams to ensure effective use of grant funds

• Monitor compliance with grant requirements and regulations

• Support financial and programmatic grant reporting

• Review grant files for compliance issues

• Stay current with grant regulations and industry best practices through training

Skills/background needed:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, and persuasive proposals

• Strong editing and proofreading abilities

• Excellent attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively

• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality work

• Ability to listen to ideas presented in meetings and translate them into written proposals

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

• Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, computer, printer)

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

What we’re looking for:

We welcome applications from entry-level candidates with a genuine interest in grant writing and proposal development. While previous grant writing experience is valued, we’re most interested in your ability to communicate clearly, pay close attention to detail, and work independently. Full training will be provided on grant processes, compliance requirements, and our systems. You should be comfortable learning new tools and eager to develop expertise in this field.

Work hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (May occasionally need to work outside standard hours to meet business needs.)

Physical demands:

This is primarily a desk-based role involving computer work, sitting, and occasional walking or standing. You may need to lift or carry items up to 10 pounds regularly.
