Position Summary
We are seeking a Grant Writer to support the identification, development, submission, and management of grant opportunities. This full-time position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work from anywhere while contributing to meaningful community-focused initiatives.
As a Grant Writer, you will manage the complete grant lifecycle, from initial research and proposal development through award administration, reporting, and compliance. You’ll develop compelling, data-driven proposals for federal, state, local, foundation, and corporate funding opportunities.
You will work collaboratively with leadership, finance, programme managers, and external partners to ensure grant proposals and awarded projects are well-planned, appropriately budgeted, compliant with funder requirements, and successfully implemented.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Prospect Development
• Research and identify funding opportunities aligned with organizational mission and strategic priorities
• Monitor funding sources and grant calendars across multiple agencies and foundations
• Maintain a comprehensive grant opportunity pipeline and funding calendar
• Evaluate funding opportunities for eligibility, alignment, competitiveness, and organizational fit
• Develop and maintain relationships with prospective funders
• Track funding trends and identify opportunities for revenue diversification
Grant Writing & Proposal Development
• Lead development of high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent, concept papers, and applications
• Translate organizational needs and community impact into compelling funding narratives
• Coordinate proposal development across departments and collect required information
• Develop project descriptions, needs statements, goals, objectives, work plans, and evaluation plans
• Collect and incorporate relevant data to support proposals
• Develop grant budgets and budget narratives in collaboration with finance teams
• Ensure proposals comply with all funder guidelines, formatting requirements, and deadlines
• Maintain a library of organizational narratives, statistics, and supporting documentation
• Coordinate final review and approval processes prior to submission
• Maintain accurate records of submitted proposals and funder correspondence
Grant Management & Compliance
• Manage the post-award lifecycle of grants from award notification through closeout
• Maintain a master grant tracking system with award amounts, deadlines, budgets, and compliance requirements
• Monitor grant expenditures against approved budgets in collaboration with finance teams
• Coordinate financial and programmatic reporting requirements
• Prepare and submit timely interim, annual, renewal, and final grant reports
• Monitor grant deliverables, performance measures, and milestones
• Identify potential compliance issues and escalate appropriately
• Coordinate grant amendments, budget revisions, and funder requests
• Ensure grant files are complete, organized, and audit-ready
• Support internal and external grant audits
Relationship Management
• Serve as primary point of contact for assigned funders
• Develop professional relationships with foundation, corporate, and governmental funding partners
• Coordinate site visits, funder meetings, and grant-related communications
• Provide leadership with regular updates on funding opportunities, application status, and upcoming deadlines
Skills/Background Needed
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field
• 3+ years of professional grant writing and/or grant management experience
• Demonstrated experience writing successful grant proposals
• Experience managing multiple grants, deadlines, and reporting requirements simultaneously
• Strong understanding of grant budgets and financial reporting
• Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex funding requirements
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent relationship-building abilities
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working for a nonprofit healthcare organization, public health agency, or community-based organization
• Experience with federal grant programmes and federal grant administration
• Certified Grant Writer credential or equivalent professional certification
• Experience with grant management software or customer relationship management systems
