About the role

We’re looking for a Grant Writing Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll develop compelling grant proposals, manage grant documentation, and support programme development initiatives. You’ll play a vital part in securing funding that drives our mission forward, working with our leadership team to identify opportunities and create persuasive, well-researched proposals.

This is an on-site position based at our corporate office, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some flexibility may be available depending on circumstances.

What you’ll be doing

Grant Research & Development: Research and identify funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate donors. Maintain a grant calendar and track submission deadlines.

Proposal Writing & Submission: Develop, write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and supporting documents. Ensure all submissions meet funder requirements and compliance standards.

Budget Preparation & Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed grant budgets and financial reports in collaboration with finance and programme teams. Ensure accuracy and alignment with grant guidelines.

Grant Management & Reporting: Manage grant applications from inception through submission and post-award reporting. Maintain organized documentation and ensure timely submission of required reports.

Collaboration & Programme Support: Work closely with programme staff to gather data, outcomes, and impact information for proposals and reports. Support strategic planning related to fundraising goals and programme expansion.

Funder Relations: Maintain ongoing communication with funders, ensuring timely reporting, compliance, and relationship stewardship.

Skills/background needed

Essential skills:

• Exceptional technical writing, editing, and proofreading abilities

• Strong research skills to identify and evaluate funding opportunities

• Experience developing grant budgets and financial reports

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities efficiently

• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

• Advanced written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively

• Strong record-keeping and documentation management skills

Education & Experience required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, or related field

• 3+ years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, or fundraising

• Experience preparing budgets and financial reports for grant applications

• Experience with contract management and compliance reporting (preferred)
