Junior Content Writer – Communications & Marketing, Full Time

About the role:

We’re looking for an entry-level Content Writer to join our marketing and communications team. You’ll develop, execute, and manage compelling content and communication strategies across multiple platforms. This is a key role in building awareness, engaging audiences, and advancing our organization’s mission with authenticity and professionalism.

Working collaboratively with the marketing team, you’ll strategize and create content for our website, social media, email campaigns, print materials, advertisements, events, videos, press releases, and internal communications. You’ll also serve as a principal writer, crafting executive communications and public statements that reflect organizational values and messaging intent.

What you’ll do:

Marketing & Communication Strategy

Collaborate with the team to develop and refine marketing plans and fundraising strategies. Help define target audiences and key relationships. Contribute to strategies that expand audience reach and engagement through advertising, community outreach, and events. Research industry best practices and tools relevant to the role. Draft creative briefs and define project scope. Build relationships across departments to streamline workflows and create more meaningful engagement.

Copy Development and Content Creation

Brainstorm content aligned with marketing plans and strategic goals. Distribute and repurpose content across multiple platforms—blog, social media, email, and print—to maximize reach. Create blog posts and website copy with strong keyword optimization. Conduct interviews with staff, volunteers, and community members to generate authentic, ongoing content. Write and edit stories and articles for a variety of distribution channels. Develop compelling copy for websites, social media, emails, advertisements, brochures, annual reports, and event materials. Keep existing content accurate and relevant. Support the marketing team’s digital and social presence. Draft thank-you letters and donor correspondence. Review and proofread copy to maintain brand accuracy. Gather and organize statistics for reports and internal communications. Assist with training volunteers on copywriting and other tasks.

Executive Communications

Maintain regular communication with organizational leadership to plan upcoming articles and official correspondence. Write articles, emails, and appeals in the voice of senior leadership. Compose personalized thank-you letters for significant contributions.

Additional responsibilities:

Capture high-quality photographs at events and interviews for marketing materials. Conduct interviews with staff and community members to gather compelling stories. Oversee team projects from conception to completion, managing timelines and deliverables.

Skills/background needed:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work as a strong team member and resolve conflict. Excellent interpersonal skills and compassion. Strong collaboration and communication with creative and marketing teams. Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs, Google Sheets, social media platforms). Ability to manage documents, organize files, and record information accurately. Willingness to learn and continue developing your skills. Ability to multi-task, listen, and make sound decisions. Honest, reliable, and strong work ethic.

An associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, creative writing, journalism, or similar field is ideal, or 3+ years of related experience. No prior professional experience required—full training will be provided.

Working conditions:

This role is primarily office-based and may require sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. You’ll need sustained energy and stamina to move about facilities regularly. Clear hearing, vision, and speech are essential. Occasional off-site evening event coverage may be required.
