About the Role:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Junior Content Writer to join our newsroom and help cover courts, crime, and public safety stories. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the San Francisco Bay Area. You’ll work across digital, social, mobile, video, and print platforms, learning from experienced journalists and developing your reporting skills in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do:
• Write clear, compelling stories for web, social media, and print platforms
• Report on breaking news and developing stories across the San Francisco Bay Area
• Research public records, court filings, and official documents
• Develop sources and conduct interviews with community members, officials, and experts
• Meet daily deadlines while managing multiple stories
• Collaborate with editors and fellow reporters to plan coverage
• Monitor news developments across social media and official channels
• Learn video storytelling and on-camera presentation skills
• Maintain high standards of accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrity
Skills/Background Needed:
• Enthusiasm for journalism and storytelling
• Strong writing ability and attention to detail
• Ability to work quickly under deadline pressure
• Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
• Familiarity with Google Docs or Microsoft Word
• Willingness to learn WordPress or content management systems
• Interest in courts, crime, public safety, or general news reporting
• Ability to conduct interviews and gather information from diverse sources
• Reliable, organised, and able to manage multiple tasks
• Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required
