We’re looking for a detail-oriented Medical Editor to join our team. You’ll work from home ensuring the highest editorial quality across a range of medical communications content.
About the Role
As a Medical Editor, you’ll be responsible for reviewing and editing medical communications materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and proper grammar. You’ll work independently and collaboratively to fact-check content, proofread copy, and maintain adherence to style guides and industry standards.
What You’ll Do
• Fact-check, edit, and proofread medical communications materials including presentations, meeting materials, video scripts, and digital content
• Review layouts and digital files for completeness and accuracy
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of reference lists
• Determine when copyright permissions are needed and coordinate with relevant parties
• Submit materials through document management systems
• Serve as a resource for colleagues on editorial style, grammar, and usage questions
• Create and maintain style guides to ensure consistency across projects
• Collaborate with team members to ensure content accuracy and quality
• Attend project meetings to stay informed about upcoming work
• Assist colleagues with editorial problem-solving and brainstorming
Skills/background needed
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent knowledge of grammar, usage, and medical writing style guidelines
• Familiarity with general scientific concepts
• Expert proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• High level of integrity and accountability
• Desire to develop professional skills and grow in your role
Experience with document management systems and permissions processes is helpful but not required—full training will be provided for entry-level candidates.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in science or English (or related field)
• Medical or pharmaceutical editing experience preferred but not required
