We’re seeking talented and driven writers and journalists who are passionate about storytelling and current events. You’ll play a crucial role in researching, writing, and presenting news stories that inform and educate audiences. This is a fully remote role perfect for beginners eager to launch a career in journalism.
What You’ll Do:
• Research and gather information on news topics, events, and developments through interviews, press conferences, and document review
• Write clear, concise, and engaging news articles that adhere to journalistic standards and capture reader attention
• Build and maintain relationships with sources, experts, and community members to gather quotes and insights
• Fact-check and verify information to ensure accuracy in all stories
• Meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality reporting, including handling breaking news situations
• Engage with audiences through social media and digital platforms to understand community interests and concerns
• Adhere to ethical and professional journalism standards, including unbiased reporting and respect for privacy
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging news topics to continuously improve your skills
Skills/background needed:
• Strong writing and communication skills with excellent grammar and spelling
• Ability to research thoroughly and investigate topics independently
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency with digital tools and platforms used in modern journalism
• Understanding of media ethics and legal regulations in journalism
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• A passion for storytelling and commitment to accurate, unbiased news
• Fluency in English
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
• Ability to lift and operate field news coverage equipment
What We’re Looking For:
We welcome applicants with journalism, communications, or related degrees, as well as those with internship or freelance reporting experience. No prior full-time journalism experience required—we provide full training and support to help you succeed in this role. You should be willing to learn all aspects of news production and be flexible with scheduling as needed.
