About the Role
We’re looking for energetic, self-starting Multimedia Journalists with a passion for uncovering the truth and telling compelling stories. If you’re interested in broadcast news and want to learn all aspects of the field, this is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive environment. No prior professional experience is necessary – we provide full training and mentorship.
What You’ll Do
As a Multimedia Journalist, you’ll play a key role in researching, writing, and presenting news stories that inform and educate audiences. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Research and Investigation: Conduct research to gather information on news topics and events. This includes interviewing sources, attending press conferences, and reviewing relevant documents. We’ll train you on how to approach this work professionally.
News Writing: Write clear, concise, and engaging news articles that meet journalistic standards. Craft compelling headlines that capture attention. You’ll receive guidance on best practices and style.
Interviews and Source Building: Learn how to build relationships with key sources, experts, and community members. Conduct interviews to gather quotes and insights for news stories, with support from experienced colleagues.
Fact-Checking: Verify the accuracy of information in news stories by checking sources and confirming details – a critical part of ethical journalism that we’ll teach you thoroughly.
Deadline Management: Meet deadlines while maintaining quality reporting. Learn to adapt to breaking news situations and prioritize tasks effectively.
Community Engagement: Engage with the community through social media and other platforms to stay connected with local concerns and interests.
Ethical Reporting: Follow professional standards of journalism, including unbiased reporting, avoiding conflicts of interest, and respecting privacy. This is foundational to the role.
Continuous Learning: Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and emerging news topics. We encourage ongoing development of your reporting skills.
Skills/background needed: Strong writing and communication skills with attention to grammar and accuracy. Excellent research abilities. Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team. Comfort with digital tools and platforms used in modern journalism. Knowledge of media ethics. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. A passion for storytelling and delivering accurate news. High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field is preferred but not required for entry-level candidates.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Full-time, permanent role

Other Requirements
A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required. Fluency in English is essential. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, move, and operate field news coverage equipment. You must be flexible to work shifts as needed. Employment is contingent on passing a drug screening and a background check.
