Role: Part-time Writing Instructor
Contract length: Part-time, per semester

About the role:
We’re recruiting part-time instructors to teach foundational writing courses in our First-Year Writing Programme. You’ll teach one or both courses in our two-course sequence designed to help students transition to college-level academic writing.
The first course focuses on the writing process, genre study, and foundational research skills. The second course builds on these skills with a deeper dive into research writing and information literacy across multiple disciplines. Both courses emphasise hands-on learning and critical thinking development.
Instructors teaching in the fall typically lead sections of the introductory course, with spring sections focusing on the advanced writing course.
What you’ll do:
• Prepare and submit course materials at the start of each semester
• Deliver engaging lectures and lead classroom activities that support student learning
• Assign written work and provide timely, constructive feedback to students
• Grade student work and maintain clear records of progress
• Hold office hours and one-on-one student conferences outside scheduled class times
• Follow all course requirements and academic integrity policies
Skills/background needed:
You should have experience teaching or working with writing instruction, genre-based writing, reading comprehension, and critical thinking development. A master’s degree in English, creative writing, or a closely related field is required. If your background differs but you have equivalent professional experience in writing education or instruction, we encourage you to apply—we assess candidates on a case-by-case basis.
All instruction is delivered face-to-face in a classroom setting.
