About the role
We’re looking for an organised, detail-focused Proposal Writer to help identify and pursue funding opportunities. You’ll research grant programmes, prepare funding proposals and budgets, monitor project expenditures, track results, and support the coordination of community initiatives.
This is a fully independent role where you’ll work with minimal supervision, taking ownership of proposals from research through completion. You’ll communicate with both internal teams and external funding bodies, presenting ideas clearly and professionally at every stage.
What you’ll do
• Research and identify relevant funding opportunities aligned with organisational priorities
• Draft and write compelling grant proposals and funding requests
• Prepare budgets and financial projections for proposed projects
• Monitor project spending and track grant-funded activities against approved budgets
• Maintain detailed records and programme documentation systems
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to gather information for proposals
• Analyse financial and programme data to ensure compliance and measure impact
• Communicate regularly with supervisors, funding bodies, and the public about project progress
Skills/background needed
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, English, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Strong written communication skills – clear, professional writing is essential
• Strong verbal communication skills for presentations and discussions with stakeholders
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with email platforms and cloud-based document tools
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines and track details
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision
• Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, supervisors, and external contacts
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• A valid driving licence
