Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Proposal Writer to join our team. In this role, you will help develop compelling grant proposals and funding applications that support our mission-driven work. You will manage proposal documentation, conduct research to identify new funding opportunities, and support program development initiatives. This position offers full training and mentorship as you grow your skills in proposal writing and fundraising.

About the Role

The Proposal Writer plays a vital role in securing funding by developing clear, persuasive grant proposals, managing documentation, and supporting strategic planning. You will report to a senior manager and work Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, on-site at our corporate office. While in-person attendance is expected, flexible arrangements may be discussed based on individual circumstances.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Funding Identification: Research and identify funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate donors. Maintain organized tracking of deadlines and submission requirements.

Proposal Development: Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and supporting documents. Ensure all submissions meet funder requirements and compliance standards. Develop compelling narratives that communicate our mission and impact.

Budget Support: Support the preparation of grant budgets and financial reports in collaboration with finance and program teams. Learn to ensure accuracy and alignment with grant guidelines.

Grant Management: Help manage grant applications from development through submission and reporting. Maintain organized documentation and ensure timely submission of required reports.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with program staff to gather data and impact information for proposals. Support strategic planning related to fundraising goals and program growth.

Funder Communication: Assist with ongoing communication with funders, supporting timely reporting and relationship management.

Skills & Background Needed

Writing & Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. You should be comfortable writing clearly and persuasively about our work and mission. We provide training in proposal writing formats and techniques.

Research Abilities: Comfort with online research and evaluating new funding opportunities. You will learn to identify grants that align with organizational goals.

Organization & Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. You will maintain detailed records and documentation.

Collaboration: Ability to work well with a team, maintain professional relationships, and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Financial Understanding: Basic familiarity with budgets and financial reporting is helpful but not required. Full training will be provided.

Education & Experience

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.

Experience: While 3+ years of grant writing experience is ideal, we welcome entry-level candidates with strong writing skills, relevant coursework, or volunteer experience in fundraising or nonprofit work. We provide comprehensive onboarding and mentorship to help you succeed.
