Role: Science Content Editor
About the Role:
As a Science Content Editor, you will join an editorial team supporting the creation of educational materials. Working within a product team focused on a specific subject area, you will ensure that content is clear, accurate, and appropriate for the intended audience. After successful onboarding, you may have the opportunity to discuss flexible work arrangements with your manager.
What You’ll Do:
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developmental Editing — Review manuscript drafts for overall quality, structure, and accuracy; check for appropriate depth and grade-level fit; conduct subject-related research as needed
- Copyediting — Polish revised manuscripts for consistency, clarity, and correctness in every detail
- Production Editing — Proofread final page layouts to ensure error-free text, graphics, and formatting
- Communicate regularly with team members and meet project deadlines
- Support quality standards and suggest process improvements
- Complete additional projects as assigned
Skills You’ll Need:
- Strong command of English grammar and mechanics
- Ability to recognise and fix sentence structure, paragraph flow, and logical consistency
- Familiarity with style guides (such as Chicago Manual of Style)
- College-level understanding of one or more natural sciences
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience & Qualifications:
You will need one of the following:
- A Master’s degree in a related creative or publishing discipline, OR
- A Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of related experience, OR
- 4 or more years of experience in a related creative discipline, OR
- Equivalent demonstrated aptitude through a skills assessment
