Roles: Service Writer / Service Advisor
Position Summary:
As a Service Writer, you’ll be the main point of contact between customers, technicians, and management in an automotive repair shop. You’ll handle customer interactions, create repair documentation, manage scheduling, and help ensure the repair department runs smoothly and safely. This role combines customer service, administrative work, and operational support—no prior automotive experience required, as full training will be provided.
What You’ll Do:
- Create complete and accurate repair orders and work documentation
- Prepare repair estimates including parts, labor, and applicable fees
- Explain recommended repairs and maintenance to customers in clear, easy-to-understand language
- Obtain customer approval before any repair work begins
- Keep detailed records of all approved and declined repairs
- Help coordinate daily operations of the service and repair department
- Assist with scheduling work based on technician availability and workload
- Review technician findings and recommendations
- Verify repairs have been completed according to specifications
- Help identify and resolve issues with repeat repairs
- Make sure customers are informed of any safety or repair concerns
- Support parts location, pricing, and ordering
- Assist with warranty claims and defective parts documentation
- Build positive relationships with parts vendors and suppliers
- Help educate customers about preventative maintenance
- Ensure all shop safety procedures are followed
Skills/background needed:
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to explain technical problems in simple terms
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities at once
- Problem-solving skills and comfort making decisions quickly
- Organisational and administrative ability
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- No prior automotive experience necessary—we provide full training
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
