ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll support a communications team, producing polished, on-brand social media copy that amplifies video content, media coverage, and stories across the organization’s networks.
This role focuses on writing captions for video content across multiple platforms, identifying short clips from longer videos for staggered publication, and drafting posts that promote media coverage, events, and organizational initiatives. You’ll work independently, manage your own schedule, and deliver publication-ready copy with minimal revision needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Write social media captions for video content across X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook, aligned with brand voice and content calendar
Review longer video content to identify short clips suitable for social media
Draft social media posts promoting media coverage and organizational initiatives
Participate in voice-development exercises to help refine brand voice
Ensure all copy adheres to AP style and brand guidelines
Communicate progress on deliverables and respond to team communications within one business day
Skills/background needed:
Professional copywriting experience, ideally including social media copy for organizations or brands
A strong portfolio demonstrating you’ve successfully written in multiple organizational voices
Ability to produce clean, publication-ready copy that requires minimal editing
Excellent command of AP style and major style guides
Working knowledge of U.S. politics at the federal and/or state level
Self-directed and highly organized; you manage your own workload, meet deadlines independently, and communicate proactively
Experience with brand or voice development is a plus
Location: Fully remote. You set your own hours within the scope of work.
