Social Media Manager & Video Editor – Creative Content Focus

Overview

We are seeking a talented Social Media Manager and Short-Form Video Editor to help manage and grow a creator’s digital presence across multiple platforms.

This role combines strong creative instincts with organization, analytics, content strategy, editing, and day-to-day social media management. You’ll take ownership of the social media ecosystem and consistently transform existing content into strategic, engaging posts.

You should be comfortable editing short-form videos, reviewing analytics, building content calendars, organizing content assets, researching trends, and identifying what content should be created next.

Responsibilities

Social Media Management

• Manage day-to-day content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube
• Maintain consistent posting schedules across all platforms
• Build and manage weekly and monthly content calendars
• Schedule, publish, organize, and track social content
• Ensure captions, messaging, visuals, and calls to action remain consistent with the creator’s brand identity
• Manage comments and community engagement
• Adapt content appropriately for each platform instead of posting identical versions everywhere

Short-Form Video Editing

• Edit high-quality short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikToks, Facebook Reels, and YouTube Shorts
• Transform long-form content into multiple short-form assets
• Identify the strongest moments in raw footage
• Create compelling opening hooks designed to stop scrolling
• Use subtitles, captions, pacing, visual effects, and graphics when appropriate
• Understand when content needs heavy editing versus simple, organic editing
• Maintain a fast and organized editing workflow

Content Strategy

• Develop content strategies around announcements, releases, and major campaigns
• Identify recurring content series that become recognizable parts of the creator’s presence
• Balance promotional content with personality, storytelling, humor, lifestyle, and entertainment
• Research successful content from similar creators and adjacent markets
• Bring new ideas proactively rather than waiting for direction
• Provide clear recommendations for what new content should be filmed each week
• Create simple filming briefs and shot ideas

Trend & Market Research

• Stay current with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook trends
• Monitor trending sounds, formats, memes, editing styles, and platform-native content
• Track what other creators in the space are doing online
• Understand the difference between copying a trend and adapting it naturally
• Continuously bring actionable ideas based on current internet culture

Analytics & Performance Tracking

• Track content performance across all major social platforms
• Monitor metrics including views, watch time, engagement rate, shares, saves, and follower growth
• Identify which hooks, topics, and formats are performing best
• Maintain organized reporting showing what is working and what needs improvement
• Review weekly and monthly performance trends
• Use analytics to influence future content decisions
• Recommend new tests based on historical performance

Content Organization & Systems

• Maintain an organized digital content library
• Categorize raw footage, completed videos, and posted content
• Track where each video has been published
• Maintain an organized content calendar and production pipeline
• Create efficient systems that allow existing content assets to be reused strategically
• Communicate clearly about upcoming needs and deadlines

Skills/Background Needed

• Experience managing social media accounts for creators, entertainers, or personality-driven brands
• Ability to edit short-form videos using software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
• Understanding of Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels
• Knowledge of hooks, retention, pacing, storytelling, and audience behavior
• Ability to independently identify content opportunities from raw footage
• Experience creating and managing content calendars
• Experience reviewing social media analytics and using performance data to guide strategy
• Strong organizational and file-management skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong written communication skills and caption-writing ability
• Reliable communication and consistent availability
• Ability to take feedback and work independently without constant direction
• Ability to explain the reasoning behind creative and strategic decisions
• Familiarity with Google Drive and cloud-based file organization
• Experience with project tracking tools such as Notion or Trello is helpful
• Graphic design or thumbnail creation experience is a bonus
• Experience working with large libraries of raw content is valuable

What We’re Looking For

Someone who:

• Understands creator culture and current social media trends
• Can demonstrate actual content they have edited
• Can explain what they personally contributed to previous accounts
• Uses data to make strategic decisions, not just personal opinion
• Provides strong video editing examples
• Takes ownership and brings ideas proactively
• Stays organized and meets deadlines
• Is willing to learn and grow in the role

How Success Will Be Measured

• Consistency and quality of content output
• Improvement in overall content quality
• Growth in views, reach, engagement, and watch time
• Quality and originality of content ideas
• Ability to recognize patterns in analytics
• Reliability and communication
• Development of repeatable, efficient systems
• Ability to organize and manage large volumes of content
