About the role
We’re looking for a Technical Writer to join our architecture and construction team. In this fully remote position, you’ll develop detailed project specifications and provide technical guidance to architecture teams during the design and construction phases.
You’ll work on large-scale, technically complex projects that involve both interior and exterior spaces. Your writing will help teams understand construction requirements, coordinate with product manufacturers, and ensure all technical details are clearly documented. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across different locations, manage relationships with product representatives, and support research into new materials and systems.
This role offers the chance to grow your expertise in technical specification writing while working with an experienced, multi-disciplinary team on meaningful projects.
What we’re looking for
Essential experience:
• A degree in Architecture or a related field
• At least 10 years of professional experience in architecture or construction-related work
• At least 5 years of experience writing and developing project specifications
• Solid understanding of construction detailing, building codes, and regulatory requirements
• Experience supporting construction administration tasks (responding to requests, reviewing documentation)
• Comfortable working across multiple teams in different geographic locations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, OneNote), team collaboration tools, and specialized construction software
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong written communication skills
Preferred skills
• Experience with specialized specification writing tools and systems
• Knowledge of sustainable building certification systems
• Professional architecture license or credentials
• Familiarity with building information modeling software
• Industry certifications in construction or specification writing
Skills/background needed: Technical writing, project specifications, construction knowledge, building codes, strong communication and collaboration skills, proficiency with standard office software and construction-specific tools
