Technical Writer – Entry Level, Remote

Overview:

Join our team as a Technical Writer and develop professional technical documentation. You’ll write, revise, edit, format, and maintain engineering and test documentation, including plans, procedures, reports, and specifications. You’ll create and maintain technical templates and ensure all documents meet established formatting, grammar, and consistency standards. No prior experience is required—we provide full training and support.

Contract length: Full-time, permanent role

Work format: Fully remote, work from home

Responsibilities:

  • Write, revise, edit, format, and maintain engineering and test documentation
  • Write, revise, edit, format, and maintain contract and compliance documents
  • Create and maintain technical document templates with guidance for end users
  • Research, collect, and analyze source material to support accurate documentation
  • Review technical documentation and provide written feedback and corrections
  • Develop and integrate graphics into technical deliverables
  • Ensure all documents adhere to templates, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistent terminology
  • Maintain schedules of outstanding documentation and due dates
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports and status updates

Skills/background needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Journalism, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to research, collect, and analyze information from technical sources
  • Experience or familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience or familiarity with Microsoft Visio
  • Experience or familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Ability to create and maintain document templates
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable (not required):

  • Background in systems engineering or test engineering
  • Experience with configuration management tools and processes
  • Experience conducting formal technical document reviews
  • Familiarity with handling classified or controlled information
  • Experience with additional design or graphics tools
  • Experience developing training materials or job aids for technical audiences
