About the role:
We’re looking for a Technical Writer to create clear, user-friendly documentation that supports manufacturing operations. You’ll work with engineers, production teams, and other specialists to translate complex technical information into instructions and guides that people can actually follow and understand.
As a Technical Writer, you’ll create work instructions, standard operating procedures, process guides, technical manuals, and other production documentation. You’ll observe real manufacturing processes, collaborate with teams to gather information, and ensure all documentation is accurate, consistent, and easy to use. You’ll also review existing documentation, spot areas for improvement, and help keep our documentation organized and accessible.
What you’ll do:
- Create clear and concise work instructions, standard operating procedures, manufacturing procedures, and process guides
- Work with engineers and subject matter experts to gather and document technical information
- Translate complex manufacturing concepts into documentation that production personnel and other users can easily understand
- Observe manufacturing processes firsthand and work directly with production and engineering teams to ensure documentation is accurate and current
- Review existing documentation and identify ways to improve clarity, consistency, accuracy, and usability
- Ensure all documentation follows company standards, templates, and formatting requirements
- Coordinate document reviews and approvals with relevant stakeholders
- Manage document revisions and control of outdated documentation
- Incorporate engineering changes, process improvements, and equipment updates into documentation
- Create visual work instructions, diagrams, and illustrations when needed
- Research and validate technical information for accuracy and completeness
- Support quality compliance and audits by maintaining accurate documentation
- Identify documentation gaps and recommend improvements to support efficiency, quality, and safety
- Participate in manufacturing projects as needed
Skills/background needed:
You don’t need manufacturing experience to succeed in this role. What matters is your ability to learn, communicate clearly, and pay attention to detail. We’ll provide full training on our processes and systems.
- Ability to write clearly and explain complex information in a way others can understand
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to organize and manage multiple documentation projects
- Comfortable learning technical and manufacturing concepts on the job
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to collaborate with engineers, production teams, and subject matter experts
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, we’ll consider an equivalent combination of education and work experience. You should have demonstrated ability to understand and communicate technical information clearly.
Physical requirements:
This role requires occasional on-site visits to manufacturing areas. You may be required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, sit, and occasionally climb or balance.
