About the Role
We’re looking for a Technical Writer to create clear, step-by-step documentation that helps production teams execute manufacturing processes safely and consistently. You’ll translate engineering specifications into simple, visual instructions that operators can follow on the shop floor. This is a hands-on role where you’ll spend time observing real processes, working with engineers and operators, and designing diagrams and visual aids to eliminate confusion and reduce errors.
What You’ll Do
• Translate technical engineering information into clear, concise step-by-step instructions for production operators
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and shop-floor teams to observe, understand, and document manufacturing processes
• Create visual aids, diagrams, and detailed callouts using design software to support work instructions
• Identify potential problems in manufacturing workflows and help implement error-prevention strategies
• Develop and maintain standardized process documentation to ensure consistent, repeatable quality
• Integrate quality control and inspection steps into manufacturing process flows
Skills/Background Needed
• Background in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, or industrial technology (or equivalent hands-on experience in a production environment)
• Experience working in or observing CNC machining and/or welding production environments
• Experience writing formal work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, or process documentation
• Proficiency with 3D design or CAD software for creating technical diagrams and visual aids
• Strong understanding of machining and welding fixtures and tooling design
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work comfortably with shop-floor teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity with error-proofing strategies in manufacturing is a plus
• Experience collaborating between engineering and practical production application is a bonus
