Technical Writer – Operations (Hybrid)

Role and Scope of Position: Create, maintain, and publish operational procedures for system distribution. Selected candidates may be asked to submit a writing sample.

What you’ll do:

Develop, revise, and publish detailed instructions and guidelines for operations. Update procedures to ensure they remain accurate and aligned with current system standards. Identify regulatory changes and incorporate necessary updates into documentation. Ensure all procedures comply with industry regulatory requirements. Coordinate with internal teams and external partner organizations to gather information for procedure development. Perform regular reviews of procedures to verify accuracy and consistency. Represent procedural documentation in meetings and industry forums. Participate in event review and incident analysis as requested by management. Support compliance audits by gathering documentation and evidence.

Skills and background needed:

Knowledge of electric power system operations and components is beneficial but training will be provided. Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in the energy sector. Familiarity with document management systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and databases. Full training provided for those new to technical writing or system operations documentation.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience: Experience in electric power systems, distribution, transmission, or generation is helpful but not required. Prior experience with procedure writing or system operations is a plus. Full onboarding and training provided for entry-level candidates.

Working conditions: This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days per week on-site at the workplace, with specific days determined by department needs and in consultation with your supervisor. You must be available for emergency response assignments as required. Travel between locations may be needed as part of the role. A valid driver’s license is required.

Contract length: Permanent, full-time position.
