Technical Writer – System Operations Documentation, Remote

Role and Scope of Position:

You will create, maintain, and publish technical documentation for system operations. This role offers the opportunity to develop and refine detailed procedures while working with internal teams and external partners. You may be asked to submit a writing sample as part of the application process.

What You’ll Do:

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Develop, revise, and publish detailed instructions and procedures for system operations

• Maintain and update technical documentation to ensure accuracy and alignment with current system configurations

• Identify procedural and regulatory changes and incorporate necessary updates into documentation

• Ensure procedures comply with industry standards and applicable regulatory requirements

• Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to gather information for documentation development

• Conduct periodic reviews of procedures and instructions to ensure accuracy and consistency

• Participate in meetings, committees, and industry forums to represent operational documentation

• Support compliance audits by providing documentation and gathering evidence as requested

Skills/background needed:

Ideally, you will have:

• Knowledge of electric power system operations (preferred but not essential)

• Understanding of system components and their operational functions (preferred but not essential)

• Familiarity with industry compliance and regulatory requirements (preferred but not essential)

• Experience with document management systems (preferred but not essential)

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams

• Experience collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and email platforms

• Ability to use databases

Education:

A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

Experience:

Prior experience is helpful but not required. If you have experience in any of these areas, it’s a bonus:

• Work in electric power distribution, transmission, or generation

• System operations experience

• Procedure writing experience

Location:

Open to applicants worldwide. This position is fully remote. You must be available for occasional travel between multiple locations as needed, and may be called upon to assist during emergency situations outside of your normal work hours.

Contract length:

Permanent, full-time position.

Rate:
