Role: Technical Writer – Systems Documentation

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for an entry-level Technical Writer to support our team in creating clear, comprehensive documentation for technical systems and applications. You’ll combine writing skills with systems analysis and user support to help our clients understand and use our products effectively. No prior experience in this specific field is required – we provide full training.

What You’ll Do:

Documentation & Technical Writing:

• Write, edit, and maintain technical documents covering software systems, operations, testing, and user guides

• Create installation, configuration, and how-to documentation for hardware and software

• Develop end-user guides and implementation guides for new capabilities

• Produce operational manuals, user guides, and technical publications

• Write code documentation and data flow documentation

• Maintain an organized internal documentation library

• Create standard operating procedures for maintenance and support tasks

• Prepare reports and briefings for different audiences

• Apply accessibility standards to document design and layout

Systems Support & Analysis:

• Help gather and organize client requirements and process information

• Analyze business and systems processes to identify ways to improve them

• Work with clients to understand their needs and suggest solutions

• Create functional design specifications based on what users need

User Support & Communication:

• Respond to user questions and follow up to ensure they’re satisfied

• Troubleshoot data flow, network, and software/hardware issues

• Communicate with end-users, management, IT staff, and other stakeholders about technical issues

• Identify common user challenges and share them with development and product teams

Team Support:

• Support the training and onboarding of new team members

• Work collaboratively with technical support staff and development teams

• Help maintain ticket tracking systems and service level agreements

Skills & Background Needed:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Associate’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college, or four years of relevant hands-on work experience

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio

• Basic understanding of technical systems and how they work in real-world settings

• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to different audiences

Desired:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

• Experience with project tracking tools and collaboration software

• Experience working with software developers

• Strong grasp of grammar and technical writing fundamentals
