Summary:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Medical Editor to join our fully remote team. You’ll support the development of complex written documents, ensuring they meet high standards for clarity, consistency, formatting, and readability. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for precision writing and an interest in healthcare or scientific content.
No prior editing experience is required—we provide full training on all tools and processes you’ll need to succeed.
What You’ll Do:
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Proofread and format documents for consistency, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Apply formatting and language standards using a provided style guide
• Identify and correct errors in tone, flow, verb tense, and style
• Recognize and fix inconsistent use of scientific terminology
• Use Microsoft Word to format documents, manage styles, and create automated tables of contents
• Insert and manage citations, references, and abbreviations
• Format and create data tables from provided information
• Build and maintain document templates
• Communicate clearly with team members about project requirements and deadlines
• Perform quality checks on work as needed
• Support the training of new team members
• Create and maintain internal documents like style guides and process materials
Skills/Background Needed:
Essential skills:
• Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Ability to read and understand data tables
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, including track changes
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Bachelor’s Degree (any field)
Preferred but not required:
• Prior experience as a copyeditor or proofreader
• Advanced Microsoft Word skills (styles, captioning, cross-referencing)
• Background or education in healthcare, laboratory, or pharmaceutical fields
• Ability to understand medical literature and journal articles
• Experience with a style guide (such as AP or AMA)
• Experience with Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint
• Familiarity with accessibility standards
