Overview
We’re looking for a Proposal Writer to help develop compelling proposals for government opportunities. This freelance, remote role offers flexibility while working on meaningful, deadline-driven projects. You’ll work across the full proposal lifecycle—from analyzing requirements and shaping strategy through writing, editing, and finalizing content.
What you’ll do
You’ll analyze solicitations and evaluation criteria to shape content strategy, participate in strategy sessions to align key themes, and collaborate with proposal managers to gather input and clarify concepts. You’ll develop original, tailored content for various proposal sections, ensure a cohesive voice across multiple writers, customize template material to meet requirements, revise content based on feedback, edit and proofread for accuracy and consistency, manage version control, and assist with submission logistics when needed.
Skills/background needed:
You should have experience writing proposals for government opportunities, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, persuasive content under pressure. Strong writing, editing, and critical thinking skills are essential. You’ll need familiarity with government procurement processes and the ability to synthesize information into clear narratives. Experience working in virtual team environments, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with structured proposal processes are valuable.
