Proposal Writer – Entry Level Remote

Overview:

We’re looking for a Proposal Writer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll develop, edit, and refine high-quality proposal content in support of government contracting opportunities. You’ll work closely with team members, subject matter experts, and leadership to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives that win business.

This is a fully remote position with full training provided. No prior proposal writing experience is required – we’ll teach you everything you need to know.

Responsibilities:

Proposal Writing & Content Development

• Develop clear, concise, and persuasive proposal content in response to government solicitations and requests
• Translate technical and operational information from subject matter experts into easy-to-understand narratives
• Create content addressing technical approaches, management approaches, staffing, quality control, risk management, and past performance
• Tailor proposal narratives to demonstrate understanding of customer requirements and desired outcomes
• Interview experts and team members to gather information needed for complete proposal responses
• Identify content gaps and areas requiring additional input

Technical Editing & Quality Assurance

• Edit proposal materials for clarity, accuracy, readability, consistency, and professional presentation
• Ensure technical concepts are communicated accurately to both technical and non-technical readers
• Improve narrative flow and eliminate redundant or overly complex language
• Verify consistency of terminology, formatting, and messaging across proposal sections
• Review final materials for typographical, grammatical, and formatting issues

Solicitation Analysis & Compliance

• Review and analyze government solicitations and related documentation
• Interpret proposal instructions and evaluation criteria
• Ensure proposal sections address all applicable requirements
• Support development of compliance tracking and content planning
• Flag potential issues and gaps for the proposal lead

Proposal Development & Collaboration

• Collaborate with proposal teams, business development, subject matter experts, and leadership
• Participate in proposal kickoff meetings, planning sessions, and status reviews
• Integrate content from multiple authors into a unified proposal with consistent voice
• Incorporate feedback throughout iterative drafts
• Support review cycles and quality-control processes

Proposal Management Support

• Manage writing and editing tasks according to established schedules and deadlines
• Track open items, content gaps, and required revisions
• Maintain version control and document integrity
• Support development of reusable proposal content and corporate materials
• Support multiple concurrent proposals while managing priorities

Technical Writing & Documentation

• Provide writing and editing support on technical and operational documentation outside the proposal process as needed

• Exceptional written communication and editing skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive writing
• Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and professional business writing
• Excellent substantive editing and proofreading skills
• Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
• Comfort with Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration tools
• Analytical and critical-thinking ability
• Sound professional judgment and adaptability

Nice to have (not required):

• Experience with government procurement or federal contracting
• Experience with structured proposal-development methodologies
• Familiarity with proposal collaboration platforms such as SharePoint or Microsoft Teams
• Formal proposal-management training or certification

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Business, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent directly relevant work experience may be considered in place of a degree.

Experience:

Two or more years of professional writing and editing experience. Proposal writing or technical writing experience is a plus, but not required. We provide full training to the right candidate.

Contract length: Full-time, permanent
