This is a fully remote position on a 24/7/365 crisis support team. You’ll handle incoming chat and text messages, provide brief assessments, and connect people experiencing emotional distress with appropriate resources. While interactions begin online, you may also support phone calls if someone needs continued assistance to ensure their safety. Full training will be provided – no prior crisis experience necessary.
About the Role:
You’ll be part of a supportive team dedicated to helping people in crisis. Your key responsibilities will include:
Responding to chat and text contacts to assess emotional distress and identify appropriate community resources
Conducting brief assessments and safety checks
Making follow-up calls when needed to ensure someone’s wellbeing
Participating in ongoing training, supervision and team meetings
Supporting administrative tasks as needed
Skills/background needed:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to remain calm and empathetic under pressure
Customer service mindset and professional demeanor
Willingness to learn crisis intervention techniques
Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for remote work
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; OR a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential. Some prior crisis support experience is preferred but not required – we provide comprehensive training for entry-level candidates.
Contract length: Permanent, Full Time
