Overview:
We’re looking for a talented Writer to join our news content team. You’ll work on a diverse range of stories—from politics and breaking news to entertainment—as part of a collaborative team producing dozens of stories daily for distribution across the country.
What You’ll Do:
• Take ownership of stories in the overnight news block that local news affiliates rely on for their morning broadcasts
• Work with a team of writers and producers by pitching, researching, and writing stories for a national audience
• Develop expertise on your assigned topics and write clear, concise scripts that tell compelling stories
• Write voice-over scripts and related content; training provided for additional formats as needed
Shift Schedule:
You will work one of the following overnight schedules:
• Monday–Friday: 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
• Saturday–Wednesday: 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience
• Strong news judgment and understanding of journalism best practices
• Prior newsroom experience is a plus, but not essential—we provide full training
• Detail-oriented with excellent writing, spelling, and grammar
• Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines
• Strong awareness of current events and news trends
• Comfortable working overnight hours
