Help Build a New Community-Based Organization From the Ground Up
An emerging community-focused nonprofit organization is seeking a creative and dependable volunteer to help establish its public presence and tell its story.
The organization is being developed to support individuals and families experiencing housing challenges and life transitions, helping them move toward stable housing, self-sufficiency, and a more hopeful future.
We are looking for someone who can assist in crafting the organization’s story and public identity based on its core mission.
The Volunteer Role
This is a part-time volunteer position, approximately 5–10 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility based on your availability.
In this role, you will:
Develop and manage LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram content
Create a social media strategy and content calendar
Write engaging posts and organizational introductions
Help communicate the organization’s mission, vision, and future programs
Develop stories and educational content related to the organization’s cause
Create fundraising and donor-engagement content
Develop graphics, photographs, short videos, and other digital content
Build awareness among potential donors, volunteers, businesses, and community partners
Promote future programs, events, and community initiatives
Establish a consistent and professional organizational voice
Help grow the organization’s online presence and community following
The Ideal Volunteer
We’re looking for someone who is mission-driven, creative, dependable, self-directed, and organized. You should have a genuine interest in social media and a desire to use your skills to make a difference.
Experience in any of the following areas is helpful but not required: social media management, marketing, communications, graphic design, photography or video, fundraising, public relations, nonprofit work, community engagement, or journalism.
Formal experience is not required. We’re looking for someone who is creative, understands social media, communicates well, and wants to use those abilities to make a positive impact. We’re also open to creative projects that can help advance community awareness, organizational development, fundraising, or public engagement.
Why This Is an Interesting Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join an organization at its beginning, shaping its communications strategy, public voice, and online presence from the start. You’ll help develop the organization’s fundraising message, create content that connects with the community, build an audience of future supporters and partners, and develop a portfolio of real-world nonprofit communications work.
Potential for Future Paid Opportunities
This is currently a volunteer, part-time opportunity. As the organization develops and funding becomes available, there may be opportunities for individuals who demonstrate strong performance and commitment to transition into a paid part-time or full-time position. While future paid employment is not guaranteed, we hope to build relationships with talented individuals as the organization grows.
