Roles: Content Writer
About the role:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Content Writer to join our team on a temporary basis. You’ll craft compelling stories and content that explains complex concepts in accessible ways, translating technical information into engaging narratives for audiences across multiple platforms and formats.
This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio while developing real-world writing skills across digital, social, video, print, and audio channels. You’ll work collaboratively with an experienced team that will support your learning every step of the way.
What you’ll be doing:
30% Collaboration and Story Development:
• Partner with the team to plan content calendars and develop story angles• Conduct interviews with subject matter experts and stakeholders• Adapt key stories for different audiences and platforms
70% Writing and Reporting:
• Research and transform technical information into clear, engaging content• Write, edit, and optimise content for different platforms (websites, social media, video scripts, newsletters, print publications)• Produce a variety of formats including press releases, feature articles, blog posts, email copy, and short-form social content
Skills/background needed:
No prior professional experience required. The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong writing, editing, and copywriting skills• Ability to explain technical or complex concepts in simple, engaging language• Adaptability: can write for different formats, audiences, and platforms• Comfort conducting interviews and gathering information from others• Familiarity with social media platforms• A portfolio or writing samples (personal projects, blog posts, or university work welcome)
Experience in science writing, environmental topics, or technical communication is a plus, but not required. We provide full training to help you develop these skills.
