Technical Writer – Logistics Documentation (Part-Time, Remote)

We’re seeking a Part-Time Remote Technical Writer to develop and maintain clear, accurate documentation that supports system acquisition, fielding, maintenance, training, and lifecycle support. You’ll work with engineers, logisticians, maintainers, trainers, and other specialists to turn complex technical information into usable resources for operators, maintainers, and programme stakeholders. This is a fully remote position, though travel may occasionally be required to support customer or project needs.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop, review, and update support plans, lifecycle documents, maintenance guides, and fielding materials
• Prepare and revise technical manuals, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures
• Analyze technical specifications, drawings, test results, and maintenance data to create accurate documentation
• Convert complex technical and logistics information into clear instructions for operators and maintainers
• Ensure documentation stays consistent with approved configurations and current technical requirements
• Coordinate reviews with engineers, logisticians, maintainers, trainers, and subject matter experts
• Track document revisions, review comments, approvals, and release status
• Support technical reviews, logistics meetings, and time-sensitive documentation needs
• Prepare status reports, technical summaries, meeting notes, and action-item tracking

Skills/background needed:

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English, Logistics, Business, Engineering, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)
• At least three years of experience in technical writing, technical documentation, military technical manuals, or comparable technical-product development
• Proven ability to analyze complex technical information and convert it into clear, usable documentation
• Experience managing document revisions, approvals, and controlled release processes
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, research, and information-organization skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and team collaboration tools
• Ability to manage multiple documents, priorities, and deadlines within a part-time schedule

Nice to have:

• Experience supporting government or defence programmes
• Familiarity with acquisition logistics, product support, or system fielding
• Experience with technical-publishing software such as Adobe FrameMaker or Adobe Acrobat
• Knowledge of engineering drawings, illustrated parts breakdowns, or technical data packages
• Experience supporting configuration-controlled documentation

Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• U.S. Citizenship required
