We’re looking for a Technical Writer to support software development and documentation projects. This is a fully remote, entry-level position perfect for someone eager to build a career in technical writing.
You’ll develop, maintain, and manage technical documentation across the full software development lifecycle. Working closely with software engineers, architects, and project teams, you’ll ensure documentation is accurate, well-organized, and easy to understand.
Key Responsibilities
• Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation for software development and system projects
• Develop software requirements documentation, use cases, functional specifications, process workflows, and system design documents
• Produce user guides, system administration manuals, training materials, release notes, and installation guides
• Document processes including data workflows, transformation logic, and reporting procedures
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system monitoring documentation
• Establish and maintain documentation repositories using version control systems to ensure document integrity
• Develop documentation standards, templates, and style guides to promote consistency
• Collaborate with technical teams to gather information and translate complex concepts into clear, accessible documentation
• Use modern digital authoring tools to improve documentation quality and efficiency
• Participate in team meetings and support documentation updates throughout project cycles
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
• Experience creating technical documentation for software systems, system architecture, and operational procedures
• Familiarity with documentation repositories and collaborative documentation platforms
• Ability to use modern digital authoring tools
• Excellent written communication, editing, and organization skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, developers, and project managers
• Experience with version control systems such as Git is a plus
• Familiarity with Agile software development and Scrum environments is preferred
• Experience creating technical diagrams and illustrations is a bonus
