We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative storyteller to join our team as a Sports Journalist. This is a fully remote role perfect for someone starting their career in journalism who wants to create engaging, well-written stories and share them across multiple platforms.
If you’re passionate about sports, love discovering compelling stories, and want to work with photography, video editing, and digital media to bring those stories to life, we’d love to hear from you. No prior experience necessary – we’ll provide full training on all the tools and techniques you need.
About the role
Responsibilities:
• Develop and pitch story ideas based on what’s happening in the sports community
• Research facts, verify information, and identify credible sources
• Write, shoot, produce and edit content for web, social media, and broadcast platforms within deadlines
• Conduct interviews and build relationships with sources who can inform your reporting
• Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and share your work
• Write in an engaging, authentic, and compelling style
• Attend editorial meetings and contribute story ideas
• Use creative production techniques including graphics and multimedia elements to enhance stories
Skills/background needed:
• Strong writing skills and excellent communication abilities
• Solid news judgment and ethical decision-making
• Ability to work calmly under constant deadlines and in fast-paced situations
• Creativity and willingness to explore new storytelling formats
• Proven ability to create content for social media and digital platforms
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Passion for sports and journalism
• 0–1 years of reporting experience is helpful but not required – full training provided
