About the role
When someone needs something documented well, they turn to you. You’re a fast thinker but a deliberate writer. Curious by nature, you quickly pick up on new concepts then take the time to carefully plan what you’ll do with the information. Research is fun. Problem solving is a thrill. Determining the best way to deliver content is second nature.
Above all, you’re an effective communicator. Whether it’s a full-fledged help system or a simple email, you are always concise, accurate, and clear. You’re comfortable working across time zones and different teams, and your persistence and attention to detail are valued by your colleagues.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll write, edit, and maintain user-facing documentation for software products, including installation guides, user manuals, release notes, API references, and tutorials. You’ll collaborate directly with software engineers, product managers, and release teams to understand product changes, new features, and technical workflows.
You’ll determine the right format and delivery method for each piece of content, whether that’s structured documentation, video tutorials, interactive walkthroughs, or embedded help. You’ll revise and update existing documentation based on product changes, customer feedback, and internal reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency across releases.
You’ll use documentation tools to author, version, and publish content. You’ll test product functionality hands-on to ensure your documentation matches what users actually experience. You’ll track documentation deliverables across multiple product releases, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and quality standards.
The impact you’ll have
Engineers and customers will onboard faster and hit fewer roadblocks because your documentation anticipates their questions and guides them through complex workflows. Product adoption will improve as users find the answers they need without escalating to support. Release cycles will run smoother because your documentation is ready when the product ships.
Internal teams will spend less time answering the same questions because you’ve documented the answers and made them easy to find. Documentation quality and consistency will improve across the product portfolio as you establish patterns and best practices others can follow. Your work will reduce support load and improve customer satisfaction.
Skills/background needed: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Technical Communication, Computer Science, English, Linguistics, Journalism, or Engineering. Strong writing and editing skills. Fluency in English. Ability to learn complex software products quickly by working directly with engineers, testing features, and synthesizing information from multiple sources. Comfort managing multiple documentation projects simultaneously with different deadlines and technical depth. Full training will be provided.
Who you are
You can sit through a product demo, ask clarifying questions, and walk out knowing exactly what needs to be documented and how. You push back when a feature description is too vague or a proposed documentation structure will confuse the user, and you do it in a way that’s productive. You test the product yourself before writing about it because you know that reading a specification isn’t the same as understanding how something actually works.
You’re comfortable saying “I don’t know yet, let me find out” and then actually finding out, whether that means asking engineers, researching documentation, or testing the tool yourself. You notice inconsistencies in terminology and instructions. You treat deadlines seriously and communicate early when something is at risk.
Contract length: Full-time, permanent
Location: Fully remote, work from anywhere
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
You’ll join a documentation team that works across multiple product lines, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and other technical writers in a geographically distributed environment. You’ll work with support and guidance while building expertise in documentation standards, tools, and processes.
