About the Role:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Technical Writer to help researchers and teams communicate complex scientific ideas clearly and compellingly. You’ll work with faculty, researchers, and administrators to write, edit, and design materials that support research growth, funding success, and community engagement. This is a full-time position based in a professional office environment.
What You’ll Do:
• Write and edit scientific documents including research manuscripts, grant proposals, technical reports, abstracts, and supporting materials
• Provide editorial support for grant applications, ensuring clarity, coherence, and compelling narrative structure
• Collaborate with researchers to gather technical information, clarify scientific concepts, and ensure accuracy and consistency
• Create educational and communication materials such as brochures, presentations, infographics, and web content
• Develop and maintain templates and style guides to enhance efficiency and consistency in proposal development
• Help organize and support workshops and strategy meetings focused on proposal planning and professional development
• Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or science communication (advanced degree preferred, but not required)
• Minimum 2 years of experience writing and editing scientific or technical documents
• Experience supporting large grant applications preferred
• Previous experience in a research development office or academic research support environment preferred
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, engaging language for diverse audiences
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to accuracy and consistency
• Strong organizational abilities; able to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and document formatting tools
• Working knowledge of design tools such as Canva and PowerPoint design features
• Familiarity with citation and reference management software
• Familiarity with AI tools that support writing, research, and content development
• Able to interact effectively with researchers, administrators, and cross-functional teams
• Working knowledge of scientific publishing standards and grant writing conventions
Contract length: Full Time, Permanent
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
