Overview:
We’re looking for a Technical Writer to join our automotive documentation team in an on-site position. This is a full-time, entry-level role perfect for someone passionate about automotive technology and clear communication.
About the Role:
You’ll work directly with engineering teams to create service procedures and documentation that help technicians do their jobs more effectively. This hands-on role involves collaborating across teams, authoring diagnostic procedures, and validating content through real-world testing. No prior technical writing experience is necessary—we provide full training to get you up to speed.
What You’ll Do:
• Author diagnostic and service procedures for automotive components and systems
• Work with engineering documentation and CAD drawings to create accurate, clear content
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure documentation meets real technician needs
• Perform hands-on analysis and problem-solving with electrical and electromechanical systems
• Validate service procedures through direct interaction with prototype vehicles
• Use structured checklists to verify functionality and define serviceability processes
Skills/background needed:
• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Basic understanding of electrical components and electromechanical systems
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Comfortable working in a hands-on garage or workshop environment
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• A passion for automotive technology and clear technical writing
• Prior automotive experience (dealership technician, service advisor, or similar) is a bonus but not required
• Trade school or automotive degree is a bonus but not mandatory

Location:
Local on-site position. This role requires on-site presence more than 3 days per week in the Troy, Michigan area.
