We run in-person after-school writing enrichment at local schools. Small groups (3–12 students), the same instructor every week, real projects, and every session ends with students presenting their work. We’re hiring writing professionals and experienced educators for our upcoming session — people who genuinely practise and love the craft they teach. An excellent fit for published writers, educators, graduate students, and professionals with teaching experience.
Who you are
You write or have taught writing: author, journalist, copywriter, editor, English teacher, or someone with classroom experience and a passion for storytelling
You can draw out a student’s ideas through thoughtful questions
You get genuinely excited about student progress and improvement
What you’ll do
Run weekly writing sessions where students draft, share work with peers, revise based on feedback, and present aloud
Guide interactive activities where students learn from real audience responses
Build each student’s portfolio across the session and write progress reports
Contribute lesson ideas to the writing curriculum — recognised when your ideas are adopted
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Part time, 8–15 weeks per session aligned with the school calendar.
How this works
Classes meet once a week on weekdays, starting between 1:00 and 3:10 pm, running 60–90 minutes, on campus at local schools
Build from one class per week up to 3–5 classes across nearby schools if you want more hours
Groups of 3–12 students, same instructor every week
Full training provided: structured curriculum, onboarding support, and ongoing coaching before and during your sessions
You’re encouraged to contribute ideas back — our curriculum is built with teachers, not handed down to them
Skills/background needed:
1+ years working with children ages 5–14, and genuine warmth for that age group
Fluent English with excellent communication skills — with both students and parents
Reliable and punctual; schools depend on consistent attendance
Background check and clearance required before starting (we provide information on the process)
Location: Local positions available. On-site at schools in the area.
