About This Role
We’re looking for a creative, hands-on freelance social media specialist to help build awareness, engagement, and local customer awareness for food brand locations. This is a contract opportunity for someone who understands short-form content and knows how to make a local food brand feel exciting, approachable, and shareable.
We are not looking for a large agency or a senior-level marketing executive. We are looking for a capable, creative professional with practical social media experience, good instincts, and a portfolio that demonstrates results.
What You’ll Do
The selected contractor will develop and execute a social media content plan focused primarily on short-form video platforms like TikTok and Facebook. Experience with Instagram is also highly desirable.
Expected services may include:
• Developing a practical monthly social media content strategy
• Creating engaging short-form videos, photographs, posts, and stories
• Filming products, store activity, customer experiences, and promotional content
• Editing videos with captions, music, transitions, and platform-appropriate trends
• Writing engaging captions and recommending hashtags and posting times
• Scheduling and publishing approved content
• Monitoring comments and engagement and recommending appropriate responses
• Identifying relevant trends and adapting them to the brand
• Developing campaigns for new products, holidays, promotions, and local events
• Suggesting collaborations with local food creators and micro-influencers
• Reviewing performance data and providing a concise monthly report with recommendations
• Helping increase local awareness, audience engagement, store visits, and reach
Work Arrangement
Most planning, editing, scheduling, and reporting can be completed remotely. However, you must be able to visit local store locations approximately once every four to eight weeks, depending on the agreed content plan.
During visits, you will capture original photos and videos to support several weeks of content. Additional visits may be arranged by mutual agreement for special promotions, launches, or events.
You may work from home and will generally determine how and when the work is performed, subject to agreed deadlines, store access, and campaign requirements.
Skills/background needed:
• At least 1–3 years of practical experience creating or managing social media content for a business, brand, restaurant, café, dessert shop, retail business, or similar client
• Demonstrated experience with TikTok and Facebook
• Ability to create and edit engaging short-form video content
• Good understanding of current social media trends and audience engagement
• Strong visual judgment and creative storytelling skills
• Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines
• Access to your own smartphone, camera, editing software, computer, and other tools needed to perform the services
• Ability to travel periodically to local store locations
• Portfolio or links showing previous social media work
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience marketing food, desserts, restaurants, cafés, or local consumer brands
• Experience with short-form video editing tools like Canva or similar platforms
• Experience working with local influencers or user-generated content creators
• Basic knowledge of paid social media promotion is helpful but not required
• Currently operating as an independent freelancer or small marketing business serving multiple clients
Contract length: Initial 90-day project with opportunity to continue on a monthly basis if the partnership is successful
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application
Location: Hybrid remote with periodic on-site visits required. Open to applicants within reasonable traveling distance of local store locations.
What to Know About This Opportunity
This is an independent contractor engagement, not a W-2 employment position. The final scope, monthly deliverables, payment schedule, travel arrangements, content ownership, and performance expectations will be documented in an independent contractor agreement before services begin.
As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for your own taxes, insurance, equipment, software, and business expenses except for expenses specifically approved in writing.

To apply, please prepare:
• A brief introduction describing your relevant experience

• A short explanation of how you would approach promoting a food brand on TikTok and Facebook
• Your proposed monthly fee or preferred pricing structure
