About the role:

We’re looking for a talented writer and storyteller to join our communications team. You’ll create compelling content across multiple channels, develop campaign materials, and help tell stories that inspire and engage our audience. This is a full-time position where you’ll work on a variety of projects, from written pieces to digital content, and collaborate with a supportive team.

What you’ll do:

You’ll lead the development of strategic content across all communications channels, including campaign materials, articles, newsletters, donor stories, impact reports, video scripts, and event materials. You’ll work with freelance writers and photographers, manage editorial calendars aligned with key priorities, and ensure all content meets brand standards. You’ll also mentor colleagues, edit team materials, manage digital publishing, and take ownership of marketing deliverables from concept through execution. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Skills/background needed:

You should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field. You’ll need at least five years of experience in communications, writing, editing, marketing, or a similar role, with some experience leading projects or supporting junior team members. Experience developing content strategy for multi-channel campaigns is important. You must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and be highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with knowledge of AP Style.

Nice to have:

Experience mentoring junior communications staff, experience in higher education or nonprofit communications, familiarity with database systems, and video storytelling skills are all valuable but not required.

Working conditions:

This is a standard office-based role with regular Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM on-site work. You’ll work at a shared desk using a computer. Additional hours may be required during peak periods and special events. Consistent attendance is essential. A background check will be required if you’re selected as a finalist.
