Role: Technical Specification Writer
We’re looking for a Technical Specification Writer to join our team on a full-time basis. You’ll work with design and construction teams to translate project requirements into clear, detailed technical specifications that guide material selection, procurement, and installation across building projects.
What you’ll do:
You will support the design and construction process by:• Translating design requirements into detailed specifications covering materials, methods, equipment, procedures, and testing protocols• Researching and evaluating products and building systems to inform material and system selection• Assisting design teams with constructability analysis and product substitution reviews• Maintaining and updating technical resource libraries and documentation• Contributing to the development of design standards and best practice procedures• Coordinating with architects and project managers to ensure specifications align with project needs and standards• Performing cost-benefit analysis on material and system choices• Ensuring all specifications comply with building codes and industry standards• Participating in knowledge-sharing and internal training as needed
Skills you’ll need:
• Strong working knowledge of architectural design, building systems, construction methodology, and material applications• Knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply them to technical documents• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team• Attention to detail and organisational skills
Background you should have:
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)• Experience working in architectural or construction environments• Prior exposure to specifications writing or technical documentation is a plus
Additional certifications or training in construction standards, building codes, or sustainability practices are advantageous but not essential.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract length: Full Time
Location: On-site position based at the workplace.
