General Description
This is a full-time position focused on publishing content online. Your responsibilities will include editing and formatting stories, selecting and editing photos, writing captions and summaries, and managing metadata. You’ll work closely with writers and reporters, helping to refine story angles, improve wording, verify facts, and ensure quality across all published work. You’ll report to senior editing staff and contribute to the generation of story ideas.
What You’ll Do
· Cover news across multiple areas including politics, national, health, financial, and world news
· Generate story ideas and review ideas submitted by staff and freelancers
· Write clear, compelling headlines and copy
· Respond quickly to breaking news and assign stories to team members
· Work with the social media team to coordinate promotion
· Some reporting may be required
What We’re Looking For
· Bachelor’s degree preferred
· Experience with online editing or similar publication work
· Comfort with document editing software such as Microsoft Word
· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks on deadline
· Ability to learn and use content management systems
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Understanding of website traffic analytics or willingness to learn
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
