About the Role:
We’re looking for an Editor to oversee our editorial department and manage the production of a monthly magazine. You’ll work with a team of contributing writers, manage editorial deadlines, and ensure all content is polished and ready for publication.
What You’ll Do:
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Manage and support field contributors and writers
• Review and prepare copy for monthly publication deadlines
• Identify and develop new writers as needed
• Liaise between the editorial department and digital/social media teams
• Work with writers to develop how-to articles and feature pieces
• Review and process press releases for new products
• Edit short-form content for various publications
• Write and prepare table of contents, sidebars, and supporting editorial matter
• Use editing software to cut copy, write captions, and proof final materials
• Attend industry events and networking functions as needed
• Contribute monthly feature articles to publications
Skills/Background Needed:
To succeed in this role, you should have:
• A degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in editorial work, magazine publishing, or a similar field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Proficiency with editing software and design tools
• Excellent attention to detail and proofreading ability
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with writers and team members
• Ability to work independently and make sound editorial decisions
• Willingness to travel to industry events and work in outdoor/field environments occasionally
• Valid driver’s license
