We’re looking for an enthusiastic content writer to create engaging articles about aviation topics for our publications and website. You’ll write stories that inform readers about industry news, introduce them to interesting people in the aviation community, and showcase aircraft and products that excite pilots and aviation enthusiasts.
What You’ll Do:
Story Ideation (15%)
Pitch story ideas based on what matters to our audience. Draw inspiration from your own experiences and interests in aviation. Work collaboratively with the team during brainstorming sessions, listening actively and offering constructive feedback.
Reporting (30%)
Research and gather information using standard journalistic methods including interviews, research, and observation. Network with sources in the aviation community to uncover interesting stories. Work with photographers and videographers to coordinate content gathering. Stay flexible and adapt as priorities shift.
Writing and Content Creation (35%)
Write original, engaging stories for print and online publications on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules. Use strong newswriting techniques and different story structures suited to each platform. Verify facts and ensure accuracy throughout your work.
Editing and Production (20%)
Collaborate with the design team to ensure photos and visuals support your writing. Edit for accuracy and consistency. Contribute to the overall production process as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
You may also assist with content across different platforms including social media and video. You might help with photography or video capture to support story gathering. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.
Skills/background needed: Bachelor’s degree. Minimum three years of experience writing for multiple platforms (print, online, social media, or similar). Strong knowledge of grammar and familiarity with AP or Chicago style guide. Passion for aviation and willingness to learn about the industry.
Nice to have: A background in English or journalism. Personal experience in the aviation community. Familiarity with major aviation companies and industry issues.
Working Conditions:
This is a fully remote position. Typical working hours are 8:30 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. The role requires up to 15% travel to aviation-related events. You’ll spend most time working at a computer, communicating via email and phone, and occasionally attending in-person meetings.
Physical Requirements:
You’ll regularly sit for extended periods while working at a computer. You’ll use a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment. Clear communication via email, phone, and in-person is essential.
