About the role:

We are seeking a Technical Writer to support the creation and maintenance of military documentation and procedural materials. You will write, edit, and coordinate documentation that ensures accuracy, clarity, and compliance with established standards. This role involves developing new publications, revising existing materials, and working as part of a coordinated writing team to maintain consistency across all documentation.

What you’ll do:

• Prepare accurate, well-organized documentation and related materials
• Write text and create graphics for publications
• Develop new publications and revision materials from initial concept through final publication
• Create change documents to update materials between standard revision cycles
• Work as the primary author on assigned subject areas, understanding key concepts, procedures, terminology, and relevant standards
• Coordinate with writing team members to ensure accuracy and consistency across all publications
• Conduct research and analysis to keep documentation comprehensive, current, and synchronized
• Maintain organized filing systems, comment records, reference lists, and documentation archives
• Participate in meetings that impact documentation outcomes
• Communicate recommendations and changes clearly in writing and verbally

Skills/background needed:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat or similar document management tools
• Familiarity with document management systems and workflows
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge of military organizational structure, hierarchy, and operational concepts is helpful but not required – we provide full training
• A bachelor’s degree in any field

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience writing technical or procedural documents for military or similar organizations
• Bachelor’s degree
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance
• Ability to work on-site
• Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
• Adaptability as procedures and standards evolve
