About the Role:
We’re looking for a Technical Writer to help prepare and maintain construction specifications for infrastructure and facility projects. You’ll work with architects, engineers, and project managers to develop clear, accurate technical documentation that meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
This is a fully remote position where you’ll gain hands-on experience in technical specification writing, working with standard documentation tools and templates. You’ll support the complete lifecycle of construction projects by ensuring specifications are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant guidelines.
What You’ll Do:
• Prepare, edit, and maintain technical construction specifications using industry-standard tools and guidelines
• Work with architects, engineers, and project managers to gather information for specification development
• Review specifications to ensure consistency with current codes, regulations, and project requirements
• Develop specification sections across different construction disciplines as needed
• Perform quality control reviews to identify conflicts, omissions, and inconsistencies
• Coordinate specifications with drawings, technical reports, and other project documents
• Support design reviews and technical evaluations
• Prepare updates and revisions in response to design changes and project updates
Skills/background needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Communications, or related field
• Experience preparing technical specifications for construction or infrastructure projects (or willingness to learn)
• Strong written and editing skills with excellent attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to understand and document technical and engineering information
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with electronic document management systems
Preferred:
• Familiarity with standard specification systems and tools
• Knowledge of construction materials and engineering disciplines
• Experience with different project delivery methods
• Certification or training in technical writing or construction specifications
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
