About the Opportunity:
We are looking for new members for our Youth Writing Program!
This is a paid youth leadership, writing, and community engagement program for high school students. Program members will meet regularly and work together over the course of the year to create and publish an original publication of their own design. Through workshops, peer feedback, and mentorship, members will strengthen a wide range of writing skills, from poetry and creative nonfiction to fiction and prose. Members will also play an active role in planning and facilitating innovative events and workshops. Through field trips, guest speakers, public-facing events, and hands-on leadership experiences, you will build community, amplify youth voices, and explore the many ways writing can create change.
Roles: Youth Writing Program Member
What You’ll Do:
Work 12–16 hours per month participating in the program
Attend in-person meetings twice a week at set times and locations
Coordinate your own transportation to and from each meeting
Maintain regular communication with your program mentor and team
Log your hours weekly; complete surveys and paperwork as requested
In collaboration with fellow members, produce an original publication of student writing, including brainstorming themes, drafting and revising your own work, providing peer feedback, and working with designers on the book’s layout and aesthetic
Help plan and conduct community events with other members to build community around writing and literacy
Optional Opportunities:
Attend accessible events and field trips co-scheduled with other program members
Tutor younger students during after-school or evening tutoring programs
Participate in community events, fundraisers, and speaking engagements
Skills/Background Needed:
You should have an enthusiastic belief in the power of writing and youth leadership, shown through your personal passion for these areas. You are deeply collaborative, creative, willing to try new things, and ready to help create genuine opportunities for student leadership and community engagement.

No prior experience is necessary—we provide full training and support.
Requirements:
Between 14–19 years old
Currently enrolled in high school
Local to the area
For applicants aged 14–17, able to obtain a work permit
Eligible to work in the United States
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application
Contract Length: Part-time, temporary, September through June
Location: Local positions available
This is a non-exempt, part-time position. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
