We’re looking for a detail-oriented copyeditor to support our publishing team by ensuring all content is clear, accurate, consistent, and ready for publication.
About This Role
This is a part-time contract position working fully remotely. You’ll review a variety of educational materials and provide high-quality copyedits within agreed-upon timelines. While experience is valued, we welcome copyeditors at various experience levels who are committed to learning and delivering excellent work.
What You’ll Do
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Copyedit educational materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, clarity, consistency, and readability
• Ensure consistency with established style guides and editorial standards
• Maintain consistency in spelling, capitalization, terminology, formatting, and tone across materials
• Flag inconsistencies, ambiguities, or potential errors while preserving the author’s intent
• Meet agreed-upon deadlines and communicate proactively about your availability
• Collaborate with team members including product managers, writers, editors, and designers
• Work on a range of materials including children’s books, lesson plans, teacher guides, family resources, and marketing materials
Skills/Background Needed
Essential:
• Strong knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Adobe Acrobat
Preferred (but not required):
• Experience editing educational or children’s materials
• Background in children’s publishing or educational publishing
• Familiarity with established editorial standards and style guides
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
Contract Length: Ongoing contract, evaluated on a monthly basis.
Location: Remote – work from home, with occasional in-person collaboration by mutual agreement if needed.
Work Details
You will set your own work schedule and methods, subject to agreed-upon deadlines. You may work with other clients during this engagement. Projects typically require turnaround within 24–48 hours depending on scope, so you should be comfortable with fast-paced timelines. Full training and support will be provided to help you succeed in the role.
