We’re looking for an enthusiastic Social Media Manager to join our marketing team and help build our digital presence. In this role, you’ll manage our social media channels, create engaging content, and help us connect with our online community. This is a hands-on position where you’ll own everything from planning content calendars to writing captions and capturing photos and videos.
You’ll work closely with different teams across the organization to develop social strategies, run campaigns, and make sure our messaging is consistent and compelling. This role requires you to be present on-site, actively exploring the campus, attending events, and building genuine connections with students, staff, and community members to uncover great content opportunities.
A big part of this job is staying in tune with digital trends and internet culture, and knowing when to apply those insights to our brand voice. You’ll monitor conversations across our accounts, respond to comments and messages, and help build a welcoming online community. You’ll also watch for feedback and escalate important issues to the right teams.
What You’ll Do
Content Creation & Strategy: Produce and curate content that engages users and grows our audience. You’ll tailor content for different platforms, make editorial decisions, and continuously optimize our approach based on what works.
Community Building: Lead digital community efforts through social media channels. Develop and implement strategies to build relationships with our audience, suggest innovative ideas, and help the organization connect meaningfully with constituents.
Engagement & Monitoring: Monitor conversations and comments across our channels. Provide friendly, helpful responses to build community; identify and escalate complaints or support questions to the appropriate teams.
Analytics & Reporting: Track how our content performs. Analyze data, compile reports, and provide recommendations to improve our strategy.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with teams across the organization—program teams, IT, campus partners, and others—to coordinate efforts, align messaging, and achieve shared goals.
Channel Management: Oversee the day-to-day running of social channels. Manage editorial strategy, maintain a consistent brand voice, and handle any reputation issues that arise on digital platforms.
What We’re Looking For
Skills/background needed: You should be a confident writer with strong analytical skills. You’re curious about digital trends and have a natural ability to identify timely, relevant opportunities. You’re comfortable working independently to meet deadlines and have experience managing or working collaboratively within teams. Familiarity with social media platforms, basic photography and videography skills, and the ability to solve problems creatively are all valuable.
Experience: A bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years of relevant social media or digital marketing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
Mindset: You’re outgoing, curious, and genuinely interested in people and stories. You thrive on building relationships and partnerships. You balance creativity with professionalism, and you’re comfortable representing the organization with diplomacy and tact.
