Role: Content Creator & Social Media Specialist
Contract length: Full-time, permanent
Location: Local positions available.
Rate: Competitive entry-level pay, details shared upon application.
About the role
We’re looking for someone who can spot a great moment and know instantly how to capture it. If you can shoot it, edit it, write about it, post it, and then read the response and adjust—this could be your role.
As a Content Creator & Social Media Specialist, you’ll own the stories we tell across social media, video, photo, and web. You’ll build content calendars, capture content at live events, edit and publish quickly, manage our social channels day-to-day, and grow our audience.
This is a hands-on creator role with strategy built in. You won’t wait for assignments—you’ll look ahead at upcoming events, plan what needs to be captured, and show up ready to execute.
What you’ll do
Content Strategy
Build and own the content calendar across all event properties. Create shot lists and content plans before each event so capture is planned rather than rushed. Develop content series and recurring formats that keep audiences engaged between events.
Capture
Shoot photos and videos on-site at events (including evenings, weekends, and holidays). Capture behind-the-scenes content, setup moments, talent, guest reactions, and sponsor activations. Run live coverage during event days with stories, reels, and real-time posts.
Editing and Production
Edit short-form vertical video for social platforms with fast turnaround (often same-day). Create recap videos, promotional assets, and sponsor content. Organize and maintain a searchable content library so assets are easy to find later.
Social Media Management
Manage daily publishing across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Write platform-native copy that matches each event’s voice and each channel’s style. Handle community interactions including comments, messages, and guest questions. Stay current with platform changes and trends, and test new formats.
Writing and Storytelling
Write social copy, web content, blog posts, and supporting email content. Develop human-interest stories featuring competitors, vendors, volunteers, regular guests, and community partners. Write video scripts and promotional content as needed.
Collaboration
Work with designers and videographers to keep visual and written content aligned. Partner with the marketing team so content supports live campaigns. Provide assets for sponsor fulfillment and recap materials.
Performance Tracking
Report on content and social performance including reach, engagement, follower growth, and traffic. Identify what formats and topics perform best and focus effort accordingly. Maintain performance metrics on marketing dashboards.
Skills/background needed
Two or more years creating content professionally (in-house, freelance, agency, or for a team or venue). A portfolio showing your best work. Strong video editing skills, particularly short-form vertical video, using tools like Adobe Premiere, CapCut, or similar software. Solid photo skills and comfort shooting on a busy event floor. Genuine understanding of social platforms as a publisher, not just a user. Strong writing skills—short, specific, and human. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during event season, and to be on your feet for full days.
Why this role
Content is how events grow, and this role has real room to develop. Prove you can build an audience and drive results, and you could expand into broader creative leadership as the programme scales. You’ll have genuine creative freedom here, and your work will reach hundreds of thousands of people.
Your work will be part of building traditions and community moments that matter locally. You’ll see your content show up in your own neighbourhood and be part of something with real community impact.
What we offer
Health, dental, and vision insurance. Paid time off plus flexible time following major event weekends. Full access to events for you and your family. A supportive team environment where your creative work is valued and seen.
We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital status, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
