Communications Writer – Corporate & Strategic Messaging, Entry Level

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Communications Writer to join our growing team. You’ll develop and execute communications strategies that inspire, inform, and engage internal and external audiences through clear, compelling storytelling. Serving as a steward of our organisation’s voice, you’ll ensure communications are authentic, consistent, and aligned with our values and strategic priorities.

About This Role:

This is an entry-level position perfect for someone with a strong interest in communications, writing, and messaging strategy. You’ll receive full training and work closely with experienced team members. No prior experience in a professional communications role is required—we’re looking for enthusiasm, strong writing skills, and a willingness to learn.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Internal Communications:

• Develop and implement communications strategies that strengthen organisational culture and align employees with our vision and values
• Create and maintain an editorial calendar to ensure timely, coordinated announcements and updates across email, intranet, digital signage, town halls, and other channels
• Write compelling content that celebrates achievements, project milestones, and community impact
• Transform complex information into clear, actionable messages that resonate with all audience levels
• Measure communications impact using feedback and engagement metrics to continuously improve your work

External Communications & Public Relations:

• Support PR strategy and external storytelling that amplifies our brand presence and visibility
• Assist with media relationships, responding to inquiries, and identifying story opportunities
• Collaborate with team members to develop and oversee social media strategy, ensuring all external content is on-brand and compelling
• Help develop and place stories highlighting achievements, milestones, and community impact across owned and social channels
• Monitor coverage and industry trends to identify opportunities

Executive & Crisis Support:

• Support leadership communications by developing talking points, presentations, and messaging for key initiatives
• Assist with crisis communications processes, including drafting internal and external statements under guidance
• Help monitor for issues that may affect our reputation and support timely responses

Skills/background needed: Strong writing and editing skills across multiple platforms, ability to simplify complex information, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Google Docs, familiarity with Canva or similar design tools, excellent organisational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, sound judgment in sensitive situations, strong interpersonal skills. A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred but not required for entry-level applicants with strong writing portfolios.
